Mission Statement: The Mayor’s Youth Council empowers high school students from across our community to learn, serve, and lead through civic engagement and public service, ensuring their voices help shape a thriving, connected community and guide the vision for Woodland Park’s future

Qualifications:

  • You are a resident of Woodland Park or Teller County
  • You are a high school student in grades 9th-12th in public, private, charter, or homeschool.
  • You are a self-motivated student, an innovative thinker encouraged by different learning experiences, and willing to learn and work collaboratively with your peers, the Mayor, the City Council of Woodland Park, City of Woodland Park staff, and community members.
  • You are a student with strong leadership skills. You are not required to have prior leadership experience, but should be able to convey examples of how you have shown leadership skills, whether that be through an extra-curricular activity, at home in your family, at your job, within an organization you participate in, or through a goal or endeavor you are pursuing.
  • You are willing to commit to a one-year term, serving from September to May, with the 2025/2026 year of service running from November to May. 
  • You are willing to commit to meeting once a month.
  • Students applying must have access to email and a cell phone for communication. 


Applications were accepted through October 31, 2025. 8 applicants were accepted to serve on the Mayor's Youth Council. These applicants were sworn into office at the November 20, 2025 City Council meeting.
