Lieutenant Henry Crist began his employment as an officer with the Woodland Park Police Department (WPPD) in December 2023 and was promoted to Lieutenant in January 2024.  Before serving the WPPD, Lieutenant Crist served in the United States Air Force from November 1993 through December 2017, where he retired as an Air Force Office of Special Investigations Special Agent.  In this role, he was responsible for conducting felony-level criminal investigations, counterintelligence operations, and protective service operations in the continental United States and overseas. Lieutenant Crist served in various agent and leadership roles, including Joint Drug Enforcement Team Member, Counterintelligence Team Chief, Personal Security Advisor, Criminal Investigations Branch Chief, Superintendent, and Resident Agent in Charge.   After retiring from the Air Force, Lieutenant Crist immediately transitioned to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), where he worked as a Detentions and Patrol Deputy until December 2023.   Lieutenant Crist received multiple awards, including the Medal of Valor, while employed by EPSO.  

Lieutenant Crist holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University (2008), is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Criminal Investigations Program and Leadership Challenge Forum, received the Distinguished Graduate award from the EPSO P.O.S.T Academy, and completed the Air Force Senior Non-Commission Officer Academy.
