Beginning in March 2025, the Colorado Department of Transportation began a new project impacting Highway 67 in Woodland Park. The project scope includes mobility and safety improvements, as well as widening CO 67 from County Road (Evergreen Heights Drive) to West Kelley’s Road from two to four lanes with a shared turn lane. The original completion date for this project was expected to be October 2025, with an updated projection of Summer 2026. This project is weather-dependent and expected to face a winter shutdown period.
Project Update & Winter Shutdown
The Colorado Department of Transportation and contract partner, Capital Paving & Construction, have made significant progress on the Colorado Highway 67 Widening in Woodland Park project in Teller County, providing more capacity, an updated water and storm drainage system, improved pedestrian accessibility, and increased safety along CO 67 in time for winter.
The project has entered a planned winter shutdown and will return in spring 2026 to perform finishing work. There will be no traffic impacts in place during the shutdown period. Each direction of CO 67 will remain in a single lane configuration for the duration of the shutdown, with turn lanes at the intersections.
Work accomplished to date includes widening CO 67 from County Road/Evergreen Heights Drive to West Kelley's Road/Stone Ridge Drive, reconstructing the northbound lanes, paving and shifting traffic, installing new curbs and sidewalks and ADA ramps, replacing water facilities and relocating utilities, and making storm drainage improvements. Other work included implementing erosion control measures to protect exposed soil and stabilize slopes.
When crews return in spring, work will be focused on finishing reconstruction of the northbound lanes, paving the top mat, and restriping CO 67, completing pedestrian improvements at the County Road/Evergreen Heights Drive and West Kelley's Road/Stone Ridge Drive intersections, and performing other punchlist tasks. This work is expected to last for about two to three months.
Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
