Important Community Update: Please take a moment to review the information below to understand this Public Notice and answer your important questions.
Recently, the City of Woodland Park received a Tier 2 violation as a result of a missed requirement during an inspection by the State of Colorado at the water treatment plant. This violation was not related to water quality. Woodland Park’s drinking water is safe. During the state’s inspection, a Tier 3 violation was issued because our turbidimeter monitoring equipment was not calibrated per manual specifications. The Turbindity meter was calibrated correctly before the inspection; however, the previous lack of calibration during the prior time period resulted in the violation.
What actions has the City taken to address and correct these violations?
City water staff corrected all bookkeeping-related errors prior to the inspection, satisfying the State of Colorado’s requirements. However, due to past errors, they require notification.
The City has also implemented a cross-training initiative to ensure all operators are thoroughly trained on relevant requirements and how to perform them properly. Investing in staff training strengthens our ability to meet the community’s needs with professionalism, consistency, and care. Implementing training initiatives also helps ensure that compliance is a shared responsibility and not reliant on a singular staff member.
Residents and business owners can rest assured that no action is needed on their part, and there is no concern for the safety of water provided by the City of Woodland Park.
