[ARCHIVED] CO 67 Widening Project / Stone Ridge Dr. Closure

Construction projects graphics for SH 67 widening project with CDOT and CO logos

Beginning in March 2025, the Colorado Department of Transportation will start a new project in Woodland Park. The project consists of widening and making mobility and safety improvements to a section of CO 67 in Woodland Park, northeast of Colorado Springs. Work includes widening CO 67 from County Road (Evergreen Heights) to Kelley’s Road from two to four lanes with a shared turn lane. Stone Ridge Drive will also experience a closure period for this project to be completed. That closure is scheduled to begin Monday, May 5, 2025, and last approximately four weeks. Other work sitewide includes:

Ongoing Travel & Access Advisory

Full Closure Stone Ridge Drive from the CO 67 intersection to Ptarmigan Drive -  extended until further notice - 24/7 closure with detours posted.

  • A full closure of Stone Ridge Drive from the CO 67 intersection west to Ptarmigan Drive is in place, with detours posted.

  • The closure has been extended due to differences between the water line design plans and field conditions which impacted all scheduled operations.

  • Open trenches exist and barricades and barrier remain in place for safety reasons.

  • No vehicular or sidewalk access is permitted on Stone Ridge Drive west of the CO 67 intersection to Ptarmigan Drive.

  • Sidewalk closure signs are in place to maintain safety for pedestrians and bicyclists.

  • Please obey posted signs and follow marked detour routes, as shown in the map below.

  • The closure is necessary while crews sawcut to remove asphalt and concrete, lower a water line, install a fire hydrant, storm pipe and inlets, and place new curb and gutter, sidewalk, and asphalt.

  • The recommended detour route is to take Millstone Lane to Research Drive, as shown on the map. Southbound CO 67 traffic can turn around to access the detour route by taking a left turn at West Kelley's Road, heading south on Sundance Street, and turning west on Red Feather Lane to enter northbound CO 67.

  • No impacts to CO 67 or West Kelley's Road will exist during this closure.

  • In the event of an official evacuation, crews will move the barricades and devices out of the way, barricade and barrier any trenches, and open the road for immediate egress. If crews are not present, emergency personnel will move the barricades and open the road while keeping devices in place to protect the public from open trenches. The public can move barricades if neither crews nor first responders are onsite and immediate evacuation has been ordered. Please observe posted signs and follow all other official instructions.

  • Signs and construction devices are in place to alert the public to the closure and other work zone restrictions.

  • Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Work includes installing water line and storm drainage pipe and inlets. Other work includes placing new sidewalks, curb and gutter, and asphalt paving.
